VIPINOY - PEBA FACES AND PLACES PHOTO CONTEST FULL MECHANICS

VIPinoy FACES AND PLACES Photo Contest Mechanics

A. Eligibility

 a. This contest is open to all Filipinos, 18 years old and above, who are currently living and working overseas.

b. Amateur and professional photographers may send in their entries.

c. PEBA BOT’s and volunteers are NOT allowed to join the contest.

d. Entrants must “Like” both the VIPinoy and PEBA fanpages on Facebook in order to be eligible to enter this contest.

B. Categories and Content

a. There will be three categories for this contest:

  i. Nature and Landscapes

  1. Pictures in this category include those of the overseas Filipino in nature settings, landscapes, outdoor scenes, sunsets, urban landscapes, cityscapes, etc. in the overseas Filipino’s host country. The overseas Filipino must be present in all photos.

  ii. People

  1. Pictures in this category include people as the main subject – whether it’s the overseas Filipino hard at work, doing leisure activities, or even just relaxing at home. Be as creative as you want! 

  iii. Travel and Adventure Collage category

  1. Pictures in this category should convey the excitement and joy of travel photography, and present the place where it is taken as an important part of the photo. Collages of tourist sites that the overseas Filipino has visited in his or her host country will be accepted in this category. The overseas Filipino must be present in all photos.

C. Submission 

  a. Entrants should “Like” both the VIPinoy and PEBA fan pages on Facebook.

  b. Entries must be submitted to: photos@pinoyblogawards.com 

  c. The subject title of the email should be “VIPinoy FACES AND PLACES: CONTEST SUBMISSION.” 

  d. The body of the email should contain the following:

  i. FULL NAME AND AGE

  ii. CONTACT DETAILS

  iii. PROFESSION and CURRENT LOCATION

  iv. CATEGORY

  v. TITLE OF THE PHOTO

  vi. LOCATION WHERE PHOTO WAS TAKEN

vii. CAPTION  FOR THE PHOTO

e. The font and size of the body of the email should be Times New Roman 12pt black. ONLY the picture being submitted should be an attachment in the email.

f. Image resolution should not be lower than 800x600 pixels (landscape) or 600x800 (portrait). The file must be 1MB or higher.

g. Photos must NOT be altered, edited, digitally manipulated or enhanced.

h. Two (2) submissions will be allowed per entrant. Each submission must be sent in a separate email.

i. All valid and accepted entries will be posted on the VIPinoy and PEBA Facebook Fanpages. Entrants with accepted entries will be notified via SMS or email.

j. PEBA, Inc. and Ayala Malls reserve the right to reject entries that contain nudity, advocate violence, and do not conform to the rules and regulations of the contest.

k. Upon submission, the photographer agrees that PEBA and VIPinoy may use the submitted photos in their websites, merchandising materials, and/or collaterals. Copyright of the photo(s) remains with the photographer, and due credit will be given in all merchandising materials and collaterals.

l. All entries must be submitted on or before 11:59 PM of August 31, 2012.

D. Selection of Winners

a. Winning entries will be determined based on the number of “likes,” “shares,” and as per PEBA and VIPinoy Panel of Judges.

b. Winners will be announced via the following: 

i. VIPinoy Facebook fanpage

ii. PEBA Facebook fanpage

iii. PEBA Website

c. Winners will be notified through phone call, SMS, or email.

E. Prizes

a. Prizes are as follows:

i. Best Photo – Nature and Landscapes Category: Php5,000 Ayala Malls eGC (Gift Card)

ii. Best Photo – People Category: Php5,000 Ayala Malls eGC (Gift Card)

iii. Best Photo – Travel and Adventure Collage Category: Php5,000 Ayala Malls eGC (Gift Card)

b. Prizes should be claimed sixty (60) days upon notice. Failure to claim will result in forfeiture of the prize.

c. Two (2) valid IDs must be presented to PEBA MANILA/Ayala Malls VIPinoy upon claiming of the prize.

d. If the winner is not in the country or is unavailable, a family member or representative may claim their prize for him/her. Representative must present the following:

i. a signed authorization letter along with the winner’s two valid IDs (or copies thereof)

ii. one (1) valid ID of the representative

PEBA and SSS International Photo Contest

Approximately 10 million Filipinos are now living and working abroad and almost 14% of the Philippines' gross domestic products comes from the Overseas Filipino Workers' remittances. Don't you think it's time to convey our appreciation for our modern heroes?

PEBA Inc. partners with SSS and Int’l Shutters Organization for this year's International Photo Contest.

With the theme "Bilib Kami Sa'Yo", the 2012 Photo Contest is looking for photographs that recognize and appreciate the hard work and sacrifices of Filipinos all over the world. OFWs are persevering in jobs outside the Philippines to provide for their families' needs and their own personal security. These sacrifices must not go unnoticed for they are not only helping their families but the country as well. 

You are free to interpret the theme and your images may be taken anywhere in the world. Your images may show or portray people in action or their interaction with other people, nature, and objects. All photos should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared.

 Mechanics

Who can join?

• Any OFW or Filipino expatriate living or working outside the Philippines who is an active SSS Member. Open to hobbyist, professional and amateur photographers.

• You MUST be an Active SSS Member. An Active member is defined as someone who has paid at least one monthly contribution within the 3-month period prior to joining u the photo contest. 

• SSS member name and number will be validated by an SSS representative.

When is the start of the submission of entries?

• July 01, 2012 up to Nov 01, 2012

All pre-submitted photos will be uploaded starting September 01, 2012 at the PEBA and/or SSS FB Pages.

What are the prizes?

First Prize - P15,000 Cash plus Certificate 

2nd Prize - P10,000 Cash plus Certificate 

3rd Prize - P5,000 Cash plus Certificate 

Most Popular Photo Award - P5,000 plus Certificate

Most Liked Photo

Most Shared Photo

Other special prizes will be announced later as per the discretion of the contest organizers depending on the creative output of contestants. 

• All entrants will be included in the raffle promo at the awarding ceremony.

How to join the International Photo Contest?

• Each entrant can only submit 2 photos. All entries must be submitted and received by 01 of November 2012 at 11:59PM Philippine time. An email or message of receipt and acceptance from the official email pc@pinoyblogawards.com or PEBA Facebook message will be sent once your entries are accepted.

• You can send photo entries via FACEBOOK MESSAGE at www.facebook.com/pebawards or email pc@pinoyblogawards.com and include the following details:

* Full name:

* Current Residence (city and country only):

* Address in the Philippines (province only):

* Email Address:

* Age:

* SSS Number: (Extremely confidential and will only be used by SSS officials in validating entrants' contribution)

* Photo Title:

* Photo Caption (a brief description/explanation of your photo):

Contest Rules

• Once submitted, entrants agree that the data above, like name and location, may be shared and used for the purposes of the contest. Email address and most especially SSS number will be kept with utmost confidentiality. 

• Entrants can edit their data by sending an email to pc@pinoyblogawards.com 

• Photographs must be in digital format, taken with any mobile, manual, or digital camera. All digital files must be higher than 1 Mb (not more than 5 megabytes), must be in JPEG or JPG format, and must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (for horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (for vertical image) with a resolution of 300dpi.

• Photographs must have been taken in 2012 and may not previously have won an award in any photography contest worldwide.

• Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified. 

• Images that do not meet these requirements may or may not be judged at the judging panel's sole discretion.

• Photo captions must accompany all submissions, and should include the subject of the image, the location, the image was taken, and the name of the photographer(s). 

• Photographs must be taken by the entrant himself/herself and does not violate any copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity, or intellectual property rights. It must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.

• Photographs must not contain any personal watermark. The PEBA committee will place a watermark on the photo after submission to ensure that photographs will not be distributed without credit after photos are published in the Facebook pages of PEBA and SSS. All entries will be co-owned as a property of PEBA and SSS and the photographer. PEBA and SSS will be given the right to use the photos in any PEBA and/or SSS related publication, events/exhibition or other commercial use (photographer maybe entitled to an equitable share for such used) with full credit or acknowledgment given to the photographer.

• Contestant will sign an online form HERE as a conforme that they understand and are legally bound to the rules of this contest.

CRITERIA OF JUDGING

• All photos should be taken within this year 2012

• All photos will be uploaded in one album at the PEBA, and/or SSS Facebook pages starting SEPTEMBER 01, 2012. Photos will be properly labeled. A set of judges (men and women who are passionate and professionals in photography) will be chosen to judge the photos according to the following criteria:

a. Interpretation 30% --Pertains to the unique interpretation of the theme or its relevance and substance. Photos should have accompanying title and description.

b. Creativity 30% -- Pertains to the composition, lighting, colors, uniqueness and artistry.

c. Technical Quality 20% - The photo should not be digitally altered, should have high resolution or at least 1mb or higher and should have publication quality.

d. Overall Impression 20% -- This will be measured by the number of unique likes obtained by the photo in the Facebook pages (PEBA and SSS) of the contest.

Note: Likes by individuals without profile photos, or have no friends and/or no activity will not be counted. PEBA will have the right to disqualify any contestant found manipulating the number of their likes.

Shares will also be counted once.

Our sincerest apology for the late announcement of the competition results, to all the winners, their representatives and friends, and the contest participants and photo enthusiasts who has endured the confusions and disappointments on our failure to announce the above winners during the PEBA Awards Night.
